This bike belonged to my wife's, cousin's husband. He bought it new in 1983 from Doug Hacking motorcycles in Bolton Lancs.

Over the time he had the bike, he toured Spain, Portugal, the UK and Scotland. Unfortunately he found himself in a position where he could no longer ride the bike. He stored it at his son's house, but when his son needed the room. I was asked if I would store it in my garage, it sat there for four years along side the Ford Anglia I was supposed to be rebuilding.

In the end he decided to sell the bike, and gave me first refusal.
The top photo is how the bike looked when I bought it. The centre photo is how she looks now. I took off the fork gaiters when I replaced the fork oil and seals. I had a luggage rack purpose built and added the screen when I went touring Scotland.
My daughter Jennifer and me, going out on the big beemer just after I bought it.
The photo on the right and the one below were taken in 2003 when I took the beemer up to Scotland.

The weather was a bit grim for the ride up to Strathconon this year. Out of the 400 plus mile trip I got about 40 miles of dry weather, and found that my boots are not very waterproof. Because the weather was so bad I decided to go up to Glasgow, then across to Stirling and Perth. Then I took the A9 to Inverness.
We had a trip to Fort George and Nairn, I went on the bike with my daughter. Crossing the Kessock Bridge over the Moray Firth, the wind was so strong I had to lean the bike over to stop us being blown off the road. On the way back I decided it would be a safer bet to go round the Beauly Firth. Its also a far nicer run.

I recently went to North Wales to see my friend Roy and his wife. I bought the BMW off Roy and although he had seen the bike in my garage, he had not seen it run since I bought it.

Needless to say he was really pleased when I turned up, thats him sitting on the bike.

Stuart and his mate Dave decided to go touring North Wales. I went down to meet them on Sunday 4th Feb. It was minus 4 degrees when I left and on the M56 my screen and visor iced up, but I got there OK. I met the lads and we set off to go round Anglesey before heading back. The two pictures are taken on the A5 at Swallow Falls.
18th February
Went for a short ride out today, just over to Huddersfield. I rode Stu's GT200 and he rode the Beemer see Suzuki GT200 X5 page.
