This is how I first got the love of motorcycles. In 1972 Age 16 I bought a 50cc moped called a Demm Dove. It wasn't much faster than a pushbike about 30mph flat out, but I went all over the place on it. The colour scheme was red & white, and the registration was WNE30L. My mates who were all older than me rode Suzuki GT185's or Honda CB175's, but a guy called Phil Mulrine had a Suzuki 125 Stinger. Sunday mornings bright and early we would be out, after a few miles he would stop and take over the Dove while I rode the Stinger. When my seventeenth birthday came round I swapped the Dove for a Suzuki GT185. The great part was I bought the Dove for £80 on the road and got £80 trade in against the 185.
Take a look at the good looking 16 year old guy on the left. Brown shirt with green velvet sown into the legs of my jeans to make them flairs. 'What was all that about?' A least I did have hair in those days though. The Honda CB175 in the background is Andy Fyfes.
