Roy originally owned the Big Beemer, and he lent me his photo album of the trips he made on the bike. I have scanned a few in and here they are.
Tour of Ireland
1984
Roy bought the bike new in March 1983 from Doug Hacking Motorcyles. Just over a year later in April 1984, he toured Ireland.
You can tell it's his first trip. No rack and top box & no tank bag. Sleeping bag and tent strapped to the pillion seat and a rucksack.
Gibraltar and Portugal 1986
In 1986 Roy toured Spain and Portugal. Now things got serious, the tank bag is there, Roy's home made rack and top box and a pair of 'Swagman' throw over saddlebags. The tent and sleeping bag are still on the back seat though.
Top left: The Big Beemer at Calias France after embarking from the SRN4 hovercraft.
Above: In Spain with The Rock of Gibraltar in background.
Left: Taken in the Algarve Portugal. you can see the increase in luggage from the trip to Ireland, but I thought the crash helmet was for wearing.
Exmoor 1988
This was a local run out, just a couple of hundred miles down south onto the west coast.
See those saddlebags? They are still in use today GD uses them on the Big Beemer, and Stu uses them on his GT200.
There were obviously severe water shortages in the 80's, or Roy wasn't heavily into cleaning bikes.
At Home 2006
Unfortunately Roy no longer rides, but we turn up every now and then to cheer him up
Left: Roy and Carol sat on the Beemer outside their house in Wales
Below: Viewing the Beemer, that's Roy and GD in the centre
Above; Everyone came to my house on new years eve, to get p****d and have a sing song. We ended up in the garage, playing with the bikes
and 2007
Stuart and his mate Dave paid Carol & Roy a visit in February. They stayed for a couple of day's and did some touring around North Wales
